It is Japanese slang for messy (slightly unruly) curly hair —yes, that’s mine!—but it also conjures up notions of uncurbed exploration, or inquisitive looking which we hope to support for both our B&B guests and resident artists.

Modja Modja House is a fresh take on the seaside bed and breakfast experience, founded by Artist and Curator Amy Croft. Sparked by an idea of how creative residencies, art production, tourism and small scale businesses could support and inspire each other, Croft designed and renovated this 1830’s sweet shop in Cliftonville Margate into an intimate and unique 3 bedroom guesthouse.
As well as welcoming guests, Modja Modja House is also our family home, shared with our young child. This means you can expect the warmth and character of a lived-in space, alongside our commitment to making your stay as peaceful and special as possible.
